ARC Horse Welfare
After an extremely dry winter, there was very little grazing and water for horses in the summer of 2012. The result of this was a large number of starving and dehydrated horses tethered and left in fields for days at a time without sufficient food and water.
After coming across one particular mare that was severely malnourished and dehydrated, and feeding and giving her water for 3 weeks, Peta and her daugthers realized that most people had no idea what to do when faced with a horse in this situation. They therefore set up ARC Horse Welfare as a community watch and advice group, and created a website and flyers to distribute, raising awareness about the problem and offering advice about what to do in situations of obvious neglect.
